File handoff for recording studios · Windows
the session's over. hand it over.
In the room, the artist scans a QR code on your screen. Anywhere else, you text them a link. Either way they download everything in one tap, straight from your computer. And it works the other way too: they scan a second code and their beats, stems and references land right on your PC. No cloud. Nothing for them to install.

In the room
your screen becomes the handoff.
Tick the files on your studio PC and a QR code fills the screen. The artist points their camera at it and gets a page with your logo on it. One tap downloads the whole session as a zip. They can also grab single files, or play any bounce first.
- Join the studio Wi-Fi
- Scan this code with your camera
- Download your files
Go ahead, scan the code above with your phone. In a real session it opens the artist's download page; here it brings you back to this site.
How it works
three steps. one of them is yours.
In the studio, both ways
they can send you files too.
Need the artist’s beat, stems or a reference? Open urwav receive. They scan the code, pick the files on their phone, and the files land straight on your PC.
Files land in Downloads › urwav received as they finish, and nothing already there gets overwritten. urwav receive is the second icon on your desktop.
Across the country
not in the room? text them a link.
Tick the files, click Make a link, text it. It opens at your own address on urwav.com, and the artist plays and downloads straight from your computer, wherever they are. No upload first, no storage to pay for.
- Your own address. yourstudio.urwav.com, set up once with your activation code.
- You decide how long links last. Forever, or set them to expire anywhere from 48 hours up. Change it any time.
- A password if you want one.
- You see what happens. Opened, played, downloaded, and a pop-up on your PC when they finish.
- New bounce, same link. Save over the file and the artist gets the new version. urwav flags it so you know.
Your computer has to be on and online for links to work, and downloads run at your internet’s upload speed. If your PC is off, the artist sees your logo and a note to try again soon.
Make it yours
your brand on their phone. not ours.
Drop in your logo and urwav pulls out its main colour for the buttons, and picks the background your logo reads best on. Change anything you like. urwav itself stays black and white, so the only colour the artist sees is yours. Try it with your logo:
The difference
nothing to upload. nothing to rent.

Questions
straight answers.
Does the artist have to install anything?
No. They scan the code with their phone's camera and a web page opens. That's the whole thing on their end.
Can I send to artists who aren't in the room?
Yes. Tick the files, click Make a link and text it. The link opens at your own address, yourstudio.urwav.com, and plays and downloads straight from your computer, anywhere in the world. Add a password if you want, and see when it's opened and downloaded.
Can artists send files to me?
Yes, in the room. Open urwav receive and a QR code comes up on your screen. The artist scans it, picks files on their phone (beats, stems, references, anything), and they land in Downloads › urwav received on your PC. Nothing goes through the cloud, and nothing already there gets overwritten.
Does my computer have to be on?
For links, yes. The files come straight from your computer, so it has to be on and online. If it's off, the artist sees your logo and a note that the studio computer is offline and to try again soon. In the room, urwav only needs to be open.
Do my files go to the cloud?
No. In the room, files go from your PC straight to the artist's phone over your own Wi-Fi. With a link, they stream from your PC to the artist through an encrypted connection. Nothing is stored or copied along the way.
What does the artist's phone need?
A camera and the same Wi-Fi network as your studio PC. Some guest networks keep devices apart; if a phone can't open the page, put it on your main network.
What do I need?
A Windows 10 or 11 PC on your studio network. urwav installs like any other program and puts two icons on your desktop. Mac isn't supported yet.
How fast is it?
In the room, as fast as your Wi-Fi. With a link, as fast as your internet's upload speed. There's no upload step either way, so the download starts the moment they tap.
Can people get into the rest of my computer?
No. Phones in the room only see the files you ticked, while urwav is open. A link only opens the files in that link, and system and private folders can never go in one. Your folders and drives stay closed, and one switch turns every link off.
How much is it?
A one-time purchase, no subscription. Email hello@urwav.com and we'll send you the details.
